Join us for the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Historical Society of Washington County, VA where Arthur Broady brings to life the story of his ancestor, John Broddy — an enslaved African American and patriot who served in the Revolutionary War. • Arthur Broady is a highly regarded spokesperson on the American Revolutionary War and maintains active memberships with two Sons of the American Revolution organizations.

• Arthur is the sixth-generation grandson and descendant of the slave John Broddy, a slave who earned his freedom in 1793, more than fifty years prior to our country’s Civil War.

• Once Mr. Broady shares the story of his sixth-generation great-grandfather, he will be available for 15 to 20 minutes of questions and answers. Event Details
