Arthur Theron Broady is a native of Marion, Virginia. Inducted into the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame in 2000, “Scrapper” as he was known since he was an infant, was a force in the defensive backfield of the Wasps football team during the late 1960’s.Broady is also remembered for being the first African American football player – and one of the first Black students – at Emory & Henry. He set the school record for interceptions in a career with 21 and picked off eight pass
